Ing. Henry Ampah Johnson is a seasoned Civil and Sanitary Engineer with over twenty-eight years of post-qualification experience in the Water and Sanitation, Building, and Civil Engineering Sectors.

Ing. Johnson has a MEng. Sanitary Engineering (UNESCO-IHE, Delft, Netherlands), Certificate in Project Management (Ramboll, Aalborg, Denmark), Diploma and BSc. (Hons) Civil Engineering from the University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. He is also a Member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers (MGhIE).

Ing. Ampah Johnson has extensive years of experience working in a multidisciplinary environment with local and foreign experts to assess the status of existing infrastructure, the need for new or rehabilitated works, and the capacity of communities, local governments (metro/municipal/district assemblies) and private organisations to operate, manage and sustain the proposed infrastructure. He has also worked with Institutions such as Rural Housing and Cottage Industries (Kpando), Volta River Authority (Akuse), Modern Construction Company (Accra), National Service Secretariat (NSS – Kpando & Tamale), University of Science and Technology (Kumasi), Volta Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project (Sogakope), Holix Consult Limited, Afrowood Consulting Limited (Accra), Unihydro Limited (Accra), Christian Engineering Limited and UN Volunteer (Umthatha, South Africa) in various capacities.

Ing. Ampah Johnson has managed projects directly and has played advisory roles to the project management team with donor support from DANIDA, KfW, DfID, USAID, KOICA, ROTARY INTERNATIONAL, IDA, AfD, EPF, Red Cross International, etc. Design project plans, applying technical skills to ensure that the projects designed, and the technology used for a given project, reflect both the needs of the beneficiaries and the capacity of the beneficiaries to operate and maintain the facility.

Ing. Ampah Johnson is very well conversant with all the managerial, technical, and institutional aspects of water supply (urban, small towns, and rural) and environmental sanitation (wastewater treatment, solid waste management, faecal sludge management, urban drainage, and low-cost sanitation); building and civil/structural engineering works and has a vast experience in the above including community mobilisation, health, and hygiene education. He also knows how to successfully integrate hardware (installation) and software aspects (social aspects) of various infrastructural projects, especially water supply and environmental sanitation projects including information management, planning, designing, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, and has been actively involved in development, testing the sustainability of water supply and environmental sanitation facilities, building and civil works.

Ing. Ampah Johnson has served in relieving capacities on numerous occasions as acting Regional Director at CWSA Ho and Takoradi Offices for 8 years and substantive Regional Director for the past 7 years in the Eastern and Oti Regions.
